I have been eating there fairly often, at the one on Elm street. They have one in Cambridge and one in Arlington too.
I think the food is pretty decent these days, I have had panini most of the time and they are pretty good and quickly served. The baked goods are pretty good too; I like their croissants. The ambiance is nice -- they have the Boston Globe to read -- if a bit spare. The chairs need rubber feet since they scrape on the cement floor and make an awful sound, really hideous. |

I think they realized they needed to do something because their baked goods looked much better than they tasted and were over-priced compared with other area bakeries. The place has gotten a bit better when it sold to new owners. The staff is not as rude. (It used to be AWFUL.) They have free samples out in abundance. (The blondies are GREAT.) The pasties have shrunk a bit under new management, but overall the place is improved. It is worth another visit... |

Occasionally the service is very slow. I also had an incident where I ordered a turkey sandwich to go and discovered all too late (later that day) that the bread, lettuce and tomato where there but that the turkey was missing.
Also the coffee is not very special. |

All groupies. I was even one, but then I woke up and realized how terrible the service is, how bad the management is in knowing what the customers want.
There has been a group of us lobbying for soy milk based drinks, specifically mocha's for over a year.
Further, the managers are just plain rude. |

I am a long term follower of the Carberry's phenomenon. The sandwiches and the baked goods are superb, the environment/decor extraordinarily pleasant, and I can only strongly recommend this place as one of the best. Actually, the baked goods are among the best in Boston. Recommend the alternative raisin scone. |
