My wife and I have three daughters, that are hungry and hard to please. We all love Elderbaum's Deli.
I have to say the hook is excellent food. We all find something we like. And my kids enjoy trying new items. Each bite is a testament to the Deli's commitmemt to homemade quality. It is clearly made with small scale love and care. That's something I just have never seen at the chain. After several visits, I found out it is a REALLY family affair. Elderbaum's Deli is owned and operated by three generations of the dynamic Eldredge family. 'Big-Mike' is the grandpa and a real character. His son Christopher is the cornerstone of the Deli, always busy, always personal. Christopher's sweet and smiley daughter Shea takes the front-line running the cash registar. She keeps the crowds happy and moving, even with a line out the door.
It takes a minute to que into the operation. Somebody could 'just' get a meat sandwich and get outta there, but that would really be missing the Holy
Cow for the coldcut! It is a refreshing atmosphere unlike any of the sprawling corporate fast-food monsters popping up in every field, daily.
Really, you just need to go and check-it out. The menu has something unique for every taste, even vegitarians (our teenager has gone against the grain). And the prices are exceptionals, good value and you can also be cheap, too.
And for me the real kicker is that each menu item is created around a family member. MP's Rueben is named for Big-Mike's wife Mary Pat. Shea's Rueben is a turkey-twist on a classic sandwich. 'Cheesy-Pete's' is a triple decker grilled cheese created for one of the brothers that migrated to California. And with Big-Mike and Mary Pat having six sons, six grandkids and 72 uncles, aunts, cousins and family pets, there really is no end to meeting (eating) the whole family! |
